Fintan Murphy is Senior Lecturer in Strings and Coordinator of performance at Monash University. He studied in Australia and Germany and has a Masters degree from C.U.A in Washington DC. Fintan was a member of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra from 1987 to 1991 and now performs in recital, chamber music and concerto performances in Australia and in the Asia-Pacific. Recent CD’s include The Soul of the Viola featuring 15 original compositions for viola and piano, Bridges, featuring contemporary chamber music from Korea, Australia and Rumania and six CD Roms on violin pedagogy including the violin alive series Fintan is Chair of the Victorian String Specialist Panel for the Australian Music Examinations Board and Editor of the AMEB Series 7 Violin Grade Books. Fintan has a particular interest in youth music education and is Director of the Melbourne String Ensemble.
